We’re certain that some of the questions to follow cross many folks’ minds as they discover us and wonder what it’s all about.  And with warmer weather fast approaching, Taste Winchester History offers this refresher…

What can I expect on Winchester Food Tours?  Well, you can certainly expect to eat.  A lot!   We generally advise people that if they are going to eat before the tour, that they eat light and eat early. TWH generally doesn’t direct our partners what to serve.  The restaurants are their businesses, and they are always looking to put their best efforts forward every single day.  They are counting on making your experience the best, give you some unique insight into their businesses, and generally are excited to see you!  If you’re expecting teeny-tiny finger samples or leftovers — that’s not going to happen!  We generally estimate that you will eat somewhere near the equivalent of 3 meals as we move through Winchester over the course of approximately 3 hours.  Don’t load up on food beforehand!

But wait… there’s more…

What are we going to see?  In between each restaurant stop, we will take you to visit a variety of historical locations, visit historical buildings and homes, and it all starts with an overview of the creation of the Town of Winchester, and also we’ll share stories of various periods in time in and around Winchester.  Even local people are surprised by just how much interesting history exists all around them as they go through their daily routines!  So much so that you could take a food tour multiple times and expect that where you eat and the historical stops will be different, in some cases mostly or entirely!

But wait… there’s more…

What are we going to talk about?  We’ll have some really, really excellent conversation. If you’re down in the dumps, worn out from work, and just want to experience something refreshing and fun, we’re here to tell you that we truly have an excellent experience every time!  Why is that?  We attribute this almost entirely to a couple of factors:

  • No one is on a “device” — no computers, no phones, no tablets.  The limited exceptions are the occasions where something comes up in conversation and we all agree we just have to have some more information!  True social media and positive personal interaction, we definitely need more of that!  Making new friends and/or enjoying old friends, imagine that…
  • Fun and Interesting Topics — people have to work really hard to make talking about food tours, travel, recipes, food, beer, spirits, cooking and more to find this not fun.  We consistently experience good times and lots of laughter, and we know you will, too!
  • Our tour partners on both the food and beer tours are really excited to see you, greet you, feed you, chat with you and do their very best to make sure you depart happy with your experience at their location.  Except in cases where they’re extremely busy, you can expect to be made to feel like “an insider” and they will share with you their time and answer questions and all manner of good stuff.

But wait… there’s more…

Taste Winchester History Specialty Tours.  We are always coming up with creative ideas, sometimes based on feedback from patrons.  For example, our first specialty tour of 2020 is the forthcoming Valentine’s Weekend Tour.  Perhaps one of our most humorous tours of 2019, time is running out and space is limited, so click that link and join the tour!

This year we also hope to add specialty tours including a kids international food tour, a museum-focused food tour, Anthony’s desire to do a Halloween-themed tour around the that holiday, and some other surprises we’re trying to bring to fruition! Every food tour is different in some way… be it the food, the beverage, the stories and sights, and sometimes even different guides running the same tour can have a different spins on any of the topics, both formal and informal.  We believe that alone is a great reason to come back for more!  In fact, you can just let us know where we took you before and we can adjust on-the-fly!

Our food tours not only make a great time the first time you discover us (or others)… but the added benefit of being there for you when you “can’t think of anything to do” and you just gotta get outta the house!  One of our tours is a fantastic way to kick-off more than just a date-night.  It makes a “date day” as a precursor to a night out with friends or loved ones, or a wrap-up to something like an early day of hiking.  Whatever the reason that brings you to us, we want you to “bring you to us” and let’s have a great time together! The warmer weather is approaching and we can still accommodate cold-weather fans all the time, too.  And if the weekends don’t work out for you, schedule a Private Winchester Food Tour most any day or time of the week.  Just give us advanced notice so that we can set it all up for you!
