Taste of Winchester Food Festival – What is It? Watch!

So with all the planning and preparation involved in the Taste of Winchester Food Festival, we haven’t been able to get out and do our extremely fun Tasting Tuesday video segments as we normally would do.  Worry not!  We took advantage of a recent road trip to get a little something done.  So what are we doing and how are we doing it?  Well, watch our short video… or if you prefer, a transcript follows the video below!  See you all on September 28th, 2019!!!  GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!

Hey, guys! Misty and Anthony from Taste Winchester History and we’re in the car, obviously, just moved the kid, the last kid into UVA and we are home free, kid-free on our way back to Winchester, which is awesome, but I want to talk to you about the Food Festival and kind of what this is because I know we haven’t done this in Winchester before.  And we’re doing it a little bit differently than other cities’ “Taste Of” so I want to explain it a little bit and we’ll have more details for you, of course, coming up!

 

Thankfully we’re not on the other side of 81, you can’t see it, there’s like stopped traffic for miles here, but we’re moving on 81 North, awesome.

 

Okay, so the Food Festival, first of all, September 28th, 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., you can get your tickets now, tasteofwinchesterva.com.

 

So normally a “Taste Of” [the City], they have everyone come to one location and they have tents and all the restaurants are set-up there and you get everything there.

 

Guys, we are a very small city and most of our restaurants are literally run… the chef is the owner and they are there, they’re working five, six, seven days a week. They don’t have the staff to do that. So we are doing our “Taste Of” where you actually go to each of the restaurants.

 

So a pretty simple concept, guys. You buy your ticket package. So you can get tickets for five tastings, 30 bucks, you get to go to five restaurants and have a tasting at each one. So it’s going to be more than a meal, guys, and our restaurants have a fantastic selection. If you haven’t seen them yet, we’re going to be posting one each day so you know what’s coming up!

 

So there are packages of five; packages of ten for $45 and you can go to ten different restaurants; or a package of 15 for $60.

 

We have, I think, 20 restaurants currently. We’ve got more coming. We’ve got a couple of breweries on board and I think we have at least one food truck lined up and we’re hoping to get more. So most of them are located in Old Town, but we have a few all around the city, and we are working on Creekside restaurants as well. I mention that specifically because we have the trolley which is going to pick people up in Old Town; they can do a couple restaurants there, hop on the trolley, and then it’s going to go down to Creekside and you can hit restaurants down there.

 

So I know you guys who are always asking me, oh my gosh, what’s the best Mexican restaurant; what’s the best place to go for brunch; and people mention places to me all the time. I’m like, oh my gosh, I’ve been meaning to go there and just haven’t gone.

 

This is your chance to go. Hit a bunch all at once, you don’t have to waste a whole meal trying a place. You just try something, too, and oh my gosh, yes, I need to come back here because it’s fabulous or, you know what, that wasn’t really up my alley.

 

But you get to try a whole bunch all on the same day. Okay? So that is basically how it’s going to work and I’m going to have lots more detail for you coming up, so we hope to see you.
